Jets Wire has identified three potential X-factors for Aaron Glenn's defense against the Dolphins in Week 7.
Minkah Fitzpatrick, S
Veteran safety Minkah Fitzpatrick has arguably been the Jets' best defensive player this season. He also has the defense's only interception this season. Dolphins quarterback Malik Willis is mistake-prone with questionable ball security. Fitzpatrick will attempt to bait Willis into a critical mistake.
T'Vondre Sweat, NT
The struggling Dolphins want to field a run-first offense, even with star RB De'Von Achane on season-ending IR. That means a lot of powerful runs up the gut with big-bodied back Ollie Gordon. The Jets will need nose tackle T'Vondre Sweat to help plug those rushing lanes.
Will McDonald IV, EDGE
The Jets' pass-rushing unit has been extremely disappointing. They collectively need more from everyone, No. 2 overall rookie David Bailey included. Will McDonald IV is in a contract year and needs to be more productive. McDonald has produced just two sacks in 2026. Willis has been sacked 14 times in five games.
