The Eagles suffered a 5-0 thrashing at Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, which is the club’s heaviest defeat against their arch-rivals in 70 years.
But despite the disappointing result, the club’s hierarchy plan to give Sage more time to prove himself at Selhurst Park, per The Athletic.
Palace do not intend to make an immediate managerial change and the 47-year-old is expected to take charge of coming matches against Besiktas and Newcastle United.
Sage was appointed as Palace manager after Oliver Glasner left in the summer.
The French boss has won just two of his opening seven Premier League matches. His team has conceded the most goals (17) in the English top-flight.
But there is an acknowledgement Palace are not in freefall, as they are 14th in the league with seven points.
Sage has not been able to pick a consistent backline due to injuries or suspension to Chadi Riad, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Axel Disasi.
The Frenchman is not out of the woods, as club chairman Steve Parish could decide to sack him if there is no sign of progress in the next two games.
If Sage is dismissed, Palace could consider appointing Kieran McKenna or Frank Lampard as a replacement.
McKenna has been out of work since leaving Ipswich Town at the end of last season, while Lampard is currently the head coach of Coventry City.
