Nunes is set to challenge women's bantamweight champion Kayla Harrison in the UFC 334 co-main event on Nov. 14 at Madison Square Garden in New York, marking the former two-division champ's first fight in more than three years. Nunes is back to try and reclaim the belt from her former friend and American Top Team stablemate, Harrison, in what's being billed as one of the biggest fights in women's MMA history.

At 38, the widespread belief has been Nunes is returning only for this historic showdown. However, that isn't automatic, and she appears to have other plans if victorious.

"You've got to defend the belt," Nunes said on "Deep Waters." "You've got to defend the belt for sure. And then we're going to see."

Nunes hasn't competed since a unanimous decision win over Irene Aldana on June 10, 2023 at UFC 289. Shortly after, Nunes vacated the 135-pound title and announced her retirement.

Harrison vs. Nunes originally was scheduled to happen this past January at UFC 324, but it was delayed after Harrison underwent neck surgery.
