Kyler Murray Receives Positive QB Grade Following Solid Week 5 Performance Against Saints

· Yahoo Sports

The Minnesota Vikings now sit at 5-0 following the 23-13 win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 5, meaning that the Vikings are one of the final three remaining undefeated teams, which include Minnesota, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the San Francisco 49ers.

With that said, this 5-0 start has not necessarily been clean, especially from the offensive side, but the offense has done enough to get the job done to help complement a strong start from the defense and the special teams.

Focusing solely on the Week 5 performance, quarterback Kyler Murray received a positive quarterback grade after having arguably his best game of the season thus far, as Bleacher Report NFL analyst Brent Sobleski revealed his QB grades for Week 5 of the 2026 season and gave Murray a grade of an A for his strong effort.

Looking at the stat line for Murray in Week 5, it is clear that he was much better as he completed 24 of his 30 pass attempts for 229 yards, one touchdown, zero interceptions, and a QBR of 78.5. Murray was also able to have a solid performance on the ground as he tallied five carries for 51 yards and averaged 5.1 yards per carry.

Overall, Murray showed the ability to be much for effective as a passer and as a runner than he has been in recent weeks and it really showed as his statistics were much better this week.

While Murray did definitely play better, there is no question that the return of Justin Jefferson helped a lot as the duo connected six times for 79 yards and one touchdown which really ended being a key difference in this game.

Going back to Murray's performance, Sobleski noted that Murray started the game with 12 straight completions and ended the game with a completion percentage of 80 percent which is very impressive and shows that he was in a much better rhythm on Sunday than he has been for most of the season thus far.

Even though Murray had one of the best games of the year on Sunday, he still did not have his full complement of weapons, as wide receiver Jordan Addison and recent free agent signing Odell Beckham Jr. were both inactive. So, when Addison and Beckham are able to return, it is very possible that this passing offense could really take off.

For the Vikings after getting off to a 5-0 start they will be on a bye this week which could be very beneficial to get the roster closer to being fully healthy before Minnesota takes on the Indianapolis Colts in Week 7.

As the Vikings head into the bye week, if Murray and Jefferson can continue to build their connection and if Addison as well as Beckham can return to the lineup, this offense might finally be able to reach its potential and become a lot more explosive which may give the Vikings an even better opportunity to compete for an NFC North title and maybe even go on a deep playoff run.
