Lions Overcome Slow Start

Arizona struck first, scoring a touchdown on its opening drive to take a 7-0 lead. Detroit struggled to move the football during its first three possessions, recording three straight three and outs.

However, the Lions found their rhythm on their fourth drive. Head coach Dan Campbell made an aggressive decision to go for it on fourth down, and quarterback Jared Goff connected with tight end Sam LaPorta to extend the possession. Running back Jahmyr Gibbs finished the drive with a one-yard touchdown run.

Detroit continued to build momentum throughout the second quarter, scoring 24 unanswered points to take a commanding 24-7 halftime lead.

Jared Goff and Jahmyr Gibbs Lead the Attack

Goff delivered an excellent performance, completing 19 of 30 passes for 271 yards and three touchdowns without throwing an interception. He also added a one-yard rushing touchdown, accounting for four total scores.

Wide receiver Jameson Williams enjoyed one of his best performances of the season, catching two touchdown passes of eight and 39 yards. LaPorta also found the end zone as Detroit’s passing attack consistently created problems for Arizona’s defense.

Gibbs was equally impressive on the ground, finishing with 151 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries. His explosive running helped Detroit control the game and wear down the Cardinals’ defense.

Cardinals Unable to Keep Pace

Arizona quarterback Jacoby Brissett threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns, but the Cardinals struggled to stop Detroit’s offense. Brissett also threw an interception, while Arizona managed only 56 rushing yards as a team.

Tight end Trey McBride caught a late touchdown pass and finished with nine receptions for 66 yards, but his production came too late to change the outcome.

Lions Head Into Bye Week With Momentum

Detroit’s defense played a major role in the victory, forcing five consecutive three-and-outs in the first half. Rookie defensive back Keith Abney II recorded his first career interception, while the defensive front consistently pressured Brissett.

The Lions now enter their bye week at 3-2 after a convincing bounce back performance. With Goff protecting the football and Gibbs producing explosive plays, Detroit showed how dangerous it can be when all three phases contribute.
