Kevin Burkhardt was technically correct about 49ers-Seahawks rematch, the best kind of correct

· Yahoo Sports

It's still early in this young NFL season, but it sure feels like the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks might be the league's two clear best teams.

Sunday's NFC West divisional matchup in Seattle turned into a back-and-forth heavyweight slugfest, with the 49ers edging out their rivals in an instant-classic 32-29 win. We should be so lucky to watch the league's two best teams reside in the same division because that means we are guaranteed another heated matchup in San Francisco on Sunday, November 29th.

Fox's No. 1 NFL announcing team, Kevin Burkhardt and Tom Brady, was appropriately on hand for the game. It was Burkhardt who seemed to forget that both the 49ers and Seahawks are in the same division, while sharing his postgame, fade-to-black comments when he noted that he has a "feeling" that they will see each other again.

Uh ... yes? This was the first game of the season between the 49ers and Seahawks. They will see each other again. It's on the schedule, even!

Burkhardt was technically correct here, but probably not in the way he intended. What he was almost certainly doing was setting up a possible playoff rematch. Yes, everyone could see these two teams squaring off in late January, too. They are that good. It's just that Burkhardt said this in early October ... with another regular-season game still on the books for both squads. He got a little ahead of himself.

There's no "feeling" about it. These two teams will see each other again!

Oh well. No harm, no foul. That's just an announcer who got caught up in an awesome football game. It's a treat for all of us that we definitely get to see the 49ers and Seahawks play this November again, even if that's not what Burkhardt meant by his closing setup.
