While the visiting Beavers drew first blood at 11:43 of the opening period, the hosts struck back for three consecutive goals off the sticks of Adrianna Milani, Gracie Graham and Sarah Paul to take a 3-1 lead into the final frame.
It was Paul’s first goal of the season and 50th of her career in the Maroon and Gold. Graham’s goal was her second of the season and she led all skaters with seven shots on goal.
BSU scored to draw within a single tally, but an empty-net goal by Milani with 54 seconds to play finished off the contest. It was Milani’s second career multi-point game.
Gophers goaltender Layla Hemp made 21 saves for the victory.
Minnesota continues its home stretch next weekend with a two-game series against No. 2-ranked Ohio State. Puck drop is set for Friday, is scheduled at 6 p.m., with Saturday’s start slated for 2 p.m. at Ridder Arena. Both games will stream live on B1G+.
