Patriots vs. Raiders inactives: Further damage avoided at cornerback
· Yahoo Sports
When the New England Patriots released their final injury report of the week on Friday, they had ruled out four of the then-six cornerbacks on their active roster. A fifth was listed as questionable.

Luckily for the team, that fifth cornerback is good to go for its Week 5 game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Despite being listed as questionable with a shoulder injury originally suffered in last week’s victory over the Buffalo Bills, Charles Woods has received the green light for Sunday. This means that he will be part of a cornerback group also consisting of Marcus Jones and recent roster addition Kindle Vildor.
The Patriots, meanwhile, will be without starters Christian Gonzalez (shoulder) and Carlton Davis (neck) as well as rookie backups Channing Canada (hamstring) and Karon Prunty (hamstring) at the position.
The rest of New England’s inactives, meanwhile, looks as follows:
Patriots inactives
- QB3 Behren Morton
- OT Dametrious Crownover
- CB Christian Gonzalez
- CB Carlton Davis III
- CB Channing Canada
- CB Karon Prunty
Behren Morton and Dametrious Crownover joining the four cornerbacks on the inactives list is no surprise. They are emergency options at this point in their careers.
In addition to Gonzalez, Davis, Canada and Prunty, the Patriots also originally ruled out fullback Reggie Gilliam (ankle, knee) and wide receiver Mack Hollins (calf) on Friday. However, both of them have since been placed on injured reserve and are therefore not part of the 53-man roster for at least the next four weeks.
Raiders inactives
- QB3 Aidan O’Connell
- RB Roman Hemby
- WR Jalen Nailor
- OL Trey Zuhn III
- DT J.J. Pegues
- S Tristin McCollum
- S Dalton Johnson
The Raiders will be without starting receiver Jalen Nailor, who was already ruled out on Friday due to a concussion. They will, however, have running back Ashton Jeanty available after his status was questionable due to ankle and foot injuries.
Kickoff between the Patriots and Raiders at Gillette Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
