October 11th Injury Report For Houston Rockets vs Dallas Mavericks

· Yahoo Sports

On Sunday October 11th, the Houston Rockets are running it back against the  Dallas Mavericks in Macao, China. Staying in the same city, same building, and facing the same team; hopefully we get the same results.

The previous game started off slowly, with multiple turnovers and missed shots reminding us that this is definitely preseason basketball. The first bucket wasn’t scored until two minutes had already passed, but the Rockets were off and running after that.

Fred VanVleet drained three straight jumpers from deep, including one from the logo. He was really feeling himself, attempting another one from 30 feet, and even throwing up a running one-legged three. He missed both, but it was great to see the confidence. FVV was quick to show everyone that he’s back and ready to ball out.

The same could be said about Houston’s leading scorer, Tari Eason. He put in an efficient 20 points and was unsurprisingly the first player off the bench. I’d expect to see that throughout the entire season, as previously covered on Roundtable. His 17 plus-minus rating was only behind one player.

Alperen Şengün finished at plus 22, thanks to his 16-10-10 triple-double in less than 22 minutes. While he didn’t make a three-pointer, he did attempt two of them, which is more than we can say about Amen Thompson.

The $208 million player actually passed up some open shots in order to drive, which was a little disappointing to see. To be fair, he did end up getting all the way to the rim and scoring on a couple of those occasions, but I’d still love to see more confidence in the jumper.

Another player I’d like to see more from is Marcus Smart, and that’s because he didn’t play at all. As covered on Roundtable, the box score shows his absence was the coach’s decision. Hopefully we get to see him out there tonight.

Conclusion:

I will apologize in advance for any inconsistencies or inaccuracies in this injury report. Unfortunately, the information on Friday wasn’t available until just before tip-off. The Rockets still haven’t given an explanation for why Marcus Smart hasn’t played.

Hopefully he plays tonight, especially with Kevin Durant out. I wouldn’t be surprised if Steven Adams and VanVleet rested this morning as well, giving Clint Capela the chance to make his season debut.

If you’re still awake from a late Saturday night, or got up early on Sunday, you just have to tune in to see who will get minutes. Consider it a nice surprise for those of us awake at these hours.
