Ruben Amorim believes the ups and downs of his management career have prepared him well for the task of leading AC Milan.

Amorim enjoyed an excellent start to his time in the dugout at Sporting Lisbon before a demoralising stint at Manchester United that saw him sacked after 14 months.

Now in charge of the Rossoneri, who entered the international break fifth in Serie A and head to Sassuolo on Sunday, the 41-year-old feels content that he is the right man in the right place.

"The experience we've built up at other clubs helps us with every challenge, or new challenge," Amorim told DAZN.

"Here it's more similar to Portugal. It's a different kind of pressure, because people outside the club experience the team really passionately. I'm used to living like that.

"In England it's a bit different, obviously. Manchester United are a global club just like Milan, so every single thing you do carries weight, and that has helped me try to conduct myself in the best way here at Milan. In my head, everything I've experienced in my career was to reach this point, at this very special club, to be ready to help it."

Amorim will be hoping summer signing Goncalo Ramos carries his international form into the clash at Mapei Stadium, with the Champions League winner netting in three out of Portugal's four Nations League games.

He has just one goal for Milan so far but has impressed with his tireless work-rate, a quality Amorim has no intention of curbing.

"I'm not going to say Ramos should run less. I'll never say that about a player," he said.

"The key thing is that we're scoring, and that's what matters most. I know full well that a striker needs to score goals, and he will score, but he's working hard, and if we're scoring, it's also thanks to Goncalo Ramos."
