Dunbar took the opening kickoff and with a run heavy drive put the first six points on the board when Eddie Gore scored from the 1.
Mariner responded with a run-centric drive of their own, powered by Wenstan Penermon and Alijah Touchstone. Touchstone capped off the possession off with a 5-yard touchdown run Mariner and with the extra point Mariner led 7-6.
“That was our game plan to run the ball and keep their offense off the field I think we caught off guard with that a little big,” said Tritons head coach Doug Faasse.
Dunbar responded via the pass. Brandon Seabrook found a streaking Tihiem Hutchins and the 2-point conversion gave the Tigers a seven-point lead with 2:40 left in the first quarter.
Back came the Tritons. Touchstone, who alternated between running back and quarterback, found Marvens Saintil on a 50-yard bomb and the game was all tied up with :18 left in the first quarter.
Faase had nothing but praise for his senior Touchstone saying, “He does everything we ask him to do he steps up to play quarterback when we need him and plays running back.”
The Tigers didn’t waste any time responding. This time Seabrook found Dunbar’s biggest weapon, Fred Jackson, for a 22-yard touchdown pass and a added a two-point pass to Jackson just 20 seconds into the second quarter.
“Seabrook does a great job for us. He gets us out of bad plays and moves with his feet well and gets his ball out of his hands to some of the best receivers in the area,” said Dunbar coach Sam Brown.
“We just had to get into our grove and everybody just had to get into their assignments and after that it all clicked,” said Seabrook.
Mariner was looking to close the gap before the end of the first half. With the ball in Tiger territory, Touchstone lofted a pass that fell short and into the arms of safety Emmanuel James Jr., who raced 70 yards for the score. The two-point conversion left Dunbar up 30-14 at the half.
Disaster stuck as after Mariner took the second half kickoff. Touchstone rattled off a 14-yard run but fumbled as he was going to the ground and Tigers safety Robert Collinton pounced on the ball.
Dunbar took advantage of the turnover with Seabrook leading a pass-heavy drive into the Tritons redzone where he found Andre Moss on a 12-yard touchdown toss.
Mariner was clearly demoralized and when a fourth down conversion effort failed inside Dunbar territory, the Tigers made sure to capitalize. Seabrook hooked up with Moss again with a 60-yard bomb and with 5:26 left in the third quarter Dunbar was up to 44-14.
A Kenon Fuller interception foiled another Tritons drive and Dunbar turned to Jackson again with Seabrook hitting him on a sideline out that resulted in a 60-yard gain and the ball on the Mariner 4. On the next play, Seabrook scrambled to find Jackson again in the end zone and with the two-point conversion it was 52-14 and a running close at the 3:45 mark.
Mariner mounted one more drive thanks to a big kickoff return of more than 70 yards by Tondrick Mack that set up a 2-yard touchdown run by Penermon.
Dunbar wasn’t finished. Seabrook, who finished the night 16 of 18 for 257 yards and three touchdowns, took it in himself from 20 yards to close out the scoring.
For Brown a district win is a district win. “They came out on senior night ready to fight, we came out a little flat and got ready to go in the second half and finished the game,” said Brown.

Immokalee 63, East Lee 0
Jayden Cowgill threw for 170 yards and four touchdowns, while Marshon Jackson scored four times as Immokalee rolled to a 63-0 victory over East Lee County in District 5A-11 football action Thursday night.
"Our guys did what they were expected to do," said Immokalee head coach James Delgado. "We have the ability to do that at any given time against anybody we play if we execute and honor the game of football."
The Indians (6-1) scored 57 points in the first half, including 36 in the second quarter, while holding the Jaguars without an offensive first down until their final possession of the game.
Immokalee wasted little time establishing control. Youvensley Methelus broke loose for a long run on the opening possession, setting up a 1-yard touchdown run by Jackson with 9:06 remaining in the first quarter.
Jackson added a 7-yard scoring run less than four minutes later, and Cowgill connected with Kendrick Perry for a 23-yard touchdown pass to give the Indians a 21-0 lead after one quarter.
The Indians continued their offensive onslaught in the second quarter. Methelus scored on a 7-yard run just 18 seconds into the period, and Cowgill found Timothy Jackson for a 52-yard touchdown pass with 9:45 remaining before halftime to extend the lead to 35-0.
East Lee County's offensive struggles compounded the deficit. A muffed kickoff left the Jaguars pinned at their own 5-yard line, and Immokalee forced a safety with 8:11 remaining in the second quarter.
Marshon Jackson added an 18-yard touchdown run after the ensuing free kick, and Cowgill connected with Jackson on a 25-yard scoring pass following an East Lee County fumble.
Cowgill capped his night with a 28-yard touchdown pass to Perry with 1:55 remaining in the half, sending Immokalee into the locker room with a commanding 57-0 advantage.
The teams played eight-minute quarters with a running clock in the second half. Immokalee added its final touchdown in the third quarter after James Michel intercepted an East Lee County pass and returned it to the Jaguars' 25-yard line. Isaiah Villareal connected with Aaron Rodriguez for a touchdown to extend the lead to 63-0.
East Lee County (0-6) struggled to establish any offensive rhythm against the Immokalee defense, which forced three turnovers and recorded a safety. The Jaguars did not pick up an offensive first down until their final possession, when Eujenio Rojas rushed for 37 yards on three consecutive carries of 13, 10 and 14 yards as time expired.
The shutout was Immokalee's second consecutive after blanking Palmetto Ridge 48-0 last week. Next week, the Indians travel to face Cape Coral in another district contest while East Lee travels to Riverdale.
