Minford 3, Vincent Warren 1

In its final regular season match of 2026, the Minford girls soccer program initially trailed Vincent Warren by a 1-0 count, but Shane Tieman’s group needed just four minutes to come up with the equalizing goal and, after entering the half tied at one, scored the two difference-making goals to seize control in a 3-1 triumph Thursday evening in Washington County.

Trailing by a 1-0 margin after a direct kick in the 24th minute of play, Minford sophomore Jasmine Dixon provided the equalizer off of a Makenna Enz pass in the 27th minute to knot the score at one apiece.

In the second half, Minford scored twice in a 13-minute span as the Falcons got two goals — one in the 62nd minute off of a pass from McKenna Hay that found Marley Rhodes for the game-winning goal, and the second in the 75th minute, where Minford junior Sadie Tieman converted a direct kick to give the Lady Falcons control for good.

Minford finished the regular season 11-3-1 overall with just four seniors on its roster among the 24 players it sports. The Lady Falcons went 4-0 against OHSAA Division III opponents and 5-1 against competition from the OHSAA Division V realm.

“I’m very pleased with how the season turned out,” Minford head coach Shane Tieman said. “We had one of the toughest schedules in the Southeast District. The only losses were to undefeated teams, so we should get a high seed. The main thing is that it prepared us for a tournament run.”

Valley 4, Gallia Academy 1

In a girls soccer match that was held Thursday evening in Lucasville, the Valley Indians’ girls soccer program was able to claim a 4-1 victory over the Gallia Academy Blue Devils’ girls soccer program.

GIRLS SOCCER

Valley 6, Peebles 1

In a nonconference matchup, the Valley Indians’ girls soccer program roared to a 6-1 win over the Peebles Indians’ girls soccer program Tuesday evening in Peebles.

Valley’s Mia Rose racked up five goals while Austin Frantz tallied four assists for the Lady Indians. Kyia Keller accounted for the additional goal.

BOYS SOCCER

South Webster 6, Waverly 1

Making adjustments in its offensive attack to generate a greater push up front, the move by veteran head coach Corey Claxon paid off as the Jeeps got five goals from senior Cole Bennett and a goal as well as two assists from Cole Belford in South Webster’s 6-1 victory over the Waverly Tigers’ boys soccer program Tuesday evening in Waverly.

Falling behind early after a sixth minute goal by the Tigers, the Jeeps countered with a flurry by scoring five times in a 22-minute span between the 14th to 36th minutes of play to take control.

Bennett and Belford, who were moved to the midfield to assist South Webster’s offense, had big nights. Bennett scored in the 14th, 18th and 22nd minutes off of passes by Brayden Barnard, Belford and Caden Johnson respectively, then Belford scored in the 29th minute on an unassisted jaunt before Bennett struck again in the 36th off of a Jaheim Froe setup to put the Jeeps ahead, 5-1, at the half.

Bennett finished off the scoring with a 65th minute goal from a Belford pass to conclude matters.

South Webster freshman David Rowland capped off a strong defensive effort with nine saves in the back to add to what has been a terrific season as the team’s goalkeeper.

“We put both Cole Bennett and Cole Belford in the midfield tonight to generate more offense and that is what they did,” Claxon said. “They controlled the midfield well and made more of the opportunities that we had and that’s exactly what we needed from them. That also required us to switch some things up in the back on defense, but Jaxson Blevins fell in line with Brayden, Jaheim, and Jace to do a nice job back there. Waverly is an improved team over the past two years so I feel like this result was a good one and not just because of the opponent. I guess time will tell if we keep things the same going forward.”

Clay 5, New Boston Glenwood 3

In a SOC I match that was held in Glenwood, the Clay Panthers’ co-ed soccer program secured the season sweep by defeating the New Boston Glenwood Tigers’ co-ed soccer program, 5-3, on Tuesday.

Evan Rider posted two goals and an assist to lead Clay while Jackson Hannan also scored two goals — including the game-tying and go-ahead goals — to lift the Panthers ahead for good. Brady Hadsell posted a goal and an assist in the contest.

Cade Munion notched two assists while London Sinclair posted one in the win. Sophomore goalkeeper Colby Secrist had six saves for the Panthers.

New Boston Glenwood was led by Tyler McQuithy, Brody Bowman and Xavier Mathis who each had a goal, while Cody Trapp had an assist in the 5-3 loss. Ashton Nolan racked up 16 saves for the Tigers.

Clay improved to 10-6 in 2026 while New Boston Glenwood fell to 3-8-2.
