Kentucky Football made some absurd history with AP Top 25 Poll snub

· Yahoo Sports

Despite being ranked 24th and going on the road to defeat South Carolina, Kentucky Football fell out of the AP Top 25 poll.

It came across as pretty odd when the poll was released, and as it turns out, Kentucky’s situation is pretty rare when it comes to college football history.

According to Lee K. Howard from WKYT, it’s only the 4th time in 90 years that a Power 4 team won a conference road game while ranked and still fell out of the AP Top 25.

Kentucky actually gained points in the poll, going from 150 to 160, but Pittsburgh finished with two more votes, giving them the final nod in the rankings.

Going on the road and winning in the SEC is tough, even against teams toward the bottom of the conference, so Kentucky’s win against South Carolina shouldn’t be diminished, especially since the Gamecocks were the betting favorite heading into kickoff and even were a touchdown favorite at one point.

Hopefully Will Stein and his Wildcats can use the rankings snub as motivation with a huge game coming up in Lexington on Saturday when Lane Kiffin and the 10th-ranked LSU Tigers come to town.

We can also take solace in the fact that ESPN senior writer Heather Dinich is a real one.
