STARKVILLE — Kamario Taylor's mom has been searching for her missing custom cowbell of her son, the Mississippi State football starting quarterback.

She's reached a point where she's identified who has her cowbell but doesn't want to take it back and would prefer to get a new cowbell.

"I hate that I lost it and it saddens me because it was a gift to me from a sweet young lady who follows me on social media," LaQuandra Conner, Taylor's mom, told the Clarion Ledger on Oct. 5. "But what hurts even more is that when I commented asking for it back, I was told they would in exchange for a signed jersey smh which I'm not giving them. So, they can just keep it."

Conner first posted about the missing cowbell on Facebook on Oct. 4, one day after No. 20 Mississippi State (4-1, 2-1 SEC) lost 56-23 against No. 7 Alabama at Davis Wade Stadium. Taylor exited the game in the fourth quarter with an injury.

"I lost my customized cowbell that someone gifted to me at the game on yesterday if anyone finds it would you please be kind enough to return it to me I would really appreciate it," she posted on Facebook with a video of the black cowbell that has images of Taylor on the front and back.

Since then, Conner posted that she tracked down a Facebook user who has the cowbell named Robert Callaway. But when Conner commented on a post from Callaway asking for the cowbell back, Callaway said his daughter would do it for a signed jersey.

"Hi I'm KaMario's mom and that's my cowbell," Conner said to Callaway according to a screenshot she posted. "I lost it at the game on Saturday. I think if anyone sold it to you all they must've found it, but I would love to have it back. It was a gift to me."

"My daughter said she would gladly trade it back to you for a signed jersey," a second screenshot from Conner's post says.

Callaway does not have any public posts on his Facebook account. An attempt to reach him through Facebook was unsuccessful.

The Bulldogs are on an open week before playing at No. 10 LSU (4-1, 1-1) on Oct. 17 (11 a.m.).

Mississippi State has not provided an injury update regarding Taylor since after the Alabama game when coach Jeff Lebby called him "day-to-day." Taylor watched the remainder of the game from the sideline with a boot on his right foot.
