More than a year after Texas flight attendant Rana Nofal Soluri disappeared, her remains have finally been identified — and her roommate is facing a murder charge in connection with her death.

Soluri, 47, was reported missing on June 11, 2025, after a colleague said she had not heard from her since March 19, according to a previous report by PEOPLE .

The Envoy Air flight attendant had taken a short leave from work while recovering from minor surgery. She was expected to return by the end of March, but never showed up, the Daily Mail reports. Her coworkers became increasingly concerned because the sudden silence was completely out of character.

Roommate accused of murder

Dennis William Day, 67, a longtime friend and roommate, is accused of killing her.

According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram , Day allegedly told police he “snapped” one night in late March and strangled Soluri with his hands on the kitchen floor of their Fort Worth home.

A year later, a fisherman found her remains along Brushy Creek near FM 1749 in Montague County on June 13, 2026, Fort Worth Police Department Homicide Unit Detective Tom O’Brien told the Star-Telegram .

The remains were sent to the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification for DNA testing. The report, completed recently, confirmed they belonged to Soluri.

Disturbing details

Detectives had searched the area a year earlier but came up empty. Investigators believed her body may have been covered by mud.

The arrest warrant also says Day directed detectives to bridges in the area. But flooding had repeatedly swept through the creeks since March 2025, and local authorities warned that Soluri’s remains “may have been washed downstream,” according to PEOPLE .

Soluri was officially identified on Sept. 15, according to a GoFundMe page supporting her daughter, Lulu. Her remains were released to her daughter after detectives “completed their investigation with the remains,” according to an update posted Sept. 29.

Building a case against Day

On June 23, 2025, police searched Day’s home with his consent. According to the arrest warrant, they found video recorded on March 21 showing Day dragging “what appears to be a lifeless body from the home into the backyard” at about 10:11 p.m.

Day allegedly told police he put Soluri’s body, head first, into a black trash bin, then drove about 104 km to Bowie and “dumped her over a bridge,” the warrant says.

Joanne Walters, who also goes by Joni Thomas, allegedly helped Day dump Soluri’s body, according to the Star-Telegram . Walters was indicted on a charge of tampering with evidence with intent to impair a human corpse. Her case is still pending.

Another chilling claim

Before Soluri’s body was identified, the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office said Day had bragged to people in jail that he could not be convicted if no one could find her body.

That gamble clearly did not pay off.

Day was booked into Tarrant County Jail on June 26, 2025, and is under indictment on a murder charge, according to PEOPLE . He remains held on a $200,000 bond.
