Hawaii volleyball finishes off 2nd sweep of Grand Canyon

Tali Hakas put down a team-high 14 kills and Hawaii totaled 14 blocks to help sweep Grand Canyon for a second straight match, 25-23, 25-21, 25-10 today at Global Credit Union in Phoenix, Ariz.
Hakas hit .387 with seven digs and three blocks and UH’s other starting outside hitter, Panna Ratkai, had seven kills without an error and hit .368 for the match.

Hawaii (12-3, 4-0 Mountain West) hit .293 as a team and held the Lopes (7-8, 1-3) to a .144 hitting percentage.
Miliana Sylvester had eight kills with seven blocks and hit .467. UH’s other starting middle, Rachel Purser, hit .364 with five kills in 11 swings.
Hawaii blocked Grand Canyon seven times in the third set and forced the Lopes, who entered the week leading the conference in hitting percentage, to hit negative.
Hawaii is one of two teams not to lose a match in conference play in the opening two weeks and is tied with UC Davis for first place.
The Rainbow Wahine return home to host San Jose State next Friday and Saturday.
