The Wisconsin Badgers pulled off a major 24-20 win over the No. 13 Penn State Nittany Lions last weekend, but it wasn’t enough to be ranked as they improved to 3-1 on the season.
Instead, the Badgers jumped all the way to No. 26, landing as the first team out as they were barely edged by the Missouri Tigers, who remained in the rankings at No. 25.
Earlier this week, I gave my thoughts on the AP Poll, which has been quite controversial this year. This week, I didn’t think Missouri should’ve been ranked after losing to Mississippi State, while playing Troy close. I also thought it’d be fair to drop Kentucky out, given their lone quality win (Texas A&M) hasn’t looked great.
But the Badgers will get another chance to jump into the AP Top 25 for the first time since 2023 this week when they take on the Michigan State Spartans at home. Heading into the weekend, Wisconsin is a 9.5-point favorite, with the over/under set at 43.5.
The Badgers and Spartans have had two common opponents: Notre Dame and Eastern Michigan. Michigan State lost by 17 to Notre Dame, while beating the latter by 28. They suffered a 31-13 loss to Nebraska this past weekend to fall to 202.
