Los Angeles Clippers guard Yuki Kawamura is preparing to face Stephen Curry in preseason, but his focus is on earning a roster spot. Kawamura, who signed an Exhibit 10 training camp contract with Los Angeles in August, will face Curry and the Golden State Warriors in Hawaii.

The young point guard shared his excitement ahead of the preseason opener.
“He’s a superstar, so I’m super excited to play against him, play against them,” Kawamura told reporters. “But I have to prove myself during the preseason to get the contract, you know. But I don’t want to focus on it. I just want to play the right way every single possession for the team.”

Kawamura enters camp after spending last season with the Chicago Bulls. He played 18 games for Chicago and spent time with the Windy City Bulls.
The Clippers added him after his appearance with the Indiana Pacers during NBA Summer League in July. Kawamura has also played for the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA.
Kawamura averaged 3.4 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 11.6 minutes over 18 games for Chicago last season. He shot 32.7% from the field, 29.7% from 3-point range, and 89.5% from the free-throw line.
In 11 G League games with Windy City, he averaged 18.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 10.8 assists. He appeared in 22 games for Memphis in 2024-25, averaging 1.6 points and 0.9 assists.
The Clippers will open their preseason schedule Sunday, Oct. 4, against the Warriors at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu. Los Angeles will then face the Toronto Raptors in Vancouver on Oct. 10 before hosting the Denver Nuggets at Intuit Dome on Oct. 14.
The Clippers begin the regular season Oct. 21 against the Sacramento Kings.
