The long international break means there’s more transfer talk than usual at this time of year.
Teams only had time to play a handful of games after the season started, but some (like Chelsea) already had time to start regretting their summer decisions.
The Blues decided to gamble on going into the season a little short in midfield, and have already paid the price. There’s now chatter that they could try to rectify that in the summer. But getting their top targets won’t be easy.

The BBC’s report today is that Alex Scott, the Bournemouth midfielder who made his England bow last night and is long reported as the Blues’ top target, won’t be available in January.
The Cherries know they’ll have to sell eventually, but aren’t going to allow a key player to go mid-season. Chelsea now have to decide whether to bring in a short term solution, change their long term plans and move to a different target, or try and hold out until the summer with the current options.
