Wilson addressed the incident with reporters on Saturday and admitted she had seen both the video and the reaction that followed.
“Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart [were] keeping me in the loop the whole time, which is crazy,” Wilson said, via ESPN’s Kareem Copeland. “They sent me the other angle, they sent me everything. I’m like, ‘y’all, please.’”
Wilson was clearly able to laugh about the situation, including one meme showing her wearing a Las Vegas Raiders jersey after the accidental tackle.
She also made sure to check on the woman involved, saying she was “glad she’s OK”. However, Wilson had one complaint of her own.
“I’m mad she hit my gum out [of] my mouth, though. I was like, ‘Girl, that’s my pregame gum,’” Wilson added.
The collision happened when a woman stepped towards an opening in the curtain just as Wilson was running through it. Her headset was knocked off in the impact, but she later indicated that she was fine.
Alternate angles of the incident began appearing afterwards, giving Wilson and fans a closer look at what happened.
The Aces went on to beat the Mercury 100-82, with Wilson putting up 34 points and 10 rebounds. She finished the regular season averaging a league-leading 26.2 points per game and will now face the Indiana Fever in the first round of the WNBA playoffs.
Wilson also spoke about dealing with physical issues ahead of the playoffs, but made it clear she intends to play through them after receiving medical clearance.
