The Texas Rangers are competing for the American League West division title. Texas and the Houston Astros are currently tied at 79-81 overall for the division lead. The Rangers announced multiple roster moves ahead of their game against the Minnesota Twins on Saturday night, including placing infielder Josh Jung on the 10-day injured list. Additionally, left-handed pitcher Robby Ahlstrom and catcher Logan O’Hoppe were both recalled from Triple-A while right-handed pitcher Gavin Collyer was optioned.

Jung has a hand fracture. The Rangers will attempt to win the AL West despite his injury absence.

Jung, 28, hit .299/.365/.462 across 104 games played this season. The infielder added 12 home runs and 27 doubles. He swung the bat well while on the field, but Jung was limited due to injury.

It’s been an underwhelming season for both the Astros and Rangers. In fact, whichever team wins the division will have the worst record to ever reach the postseason in a full 162-game season. The previous mark was set by an 82-win team, as the Rangers or Astros can win 81 games at the most this season.

Nevertheless, Texas still is in the playoff picture. Anything can happen once the postseason begins. All a team needs to do is get hot at the right time.

The Rangers will play the Twins in Minnesota at 4:10 PM ET. Minnesota earned a 10-2 victory over Texas on Friday to begin the three-game series.

As for the Astros, they were defeated 6-5 by the Athletics on Friday. They will play the Athletics once again on Saturday night at 9:40 PM ET.
