Kentucky volleyball gets late-night win over Vanderbilt

SEC play opened for the Kentucky Wildcats volleyball team with a late-night matchup against Vanderbilt on Wednesday. The Cats would fall behind early, but ultimately take three straight sets to get the victory 3-1 (21-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-21).

Vanderbilt controlled the first set, pulling out to an early lead, which they never surrendered. From there on, however, it was all Wildcats. They dominated the second set to tie the match, then cruised to the win.
Brooklyn DeLeye and Morgan Gaerte were fantastic once again. Each had 21 kills in the match, and each shined at different points. Lizzie Carr and Asia Thigpen each added 8 kills. Kassie O'Brien had another big day with 54 assists.
Defensively, Kentucky was also very good once again. Carr had 7 blocks, while Gaerte added 5 more. Molly Tuozzo had 15 digs to lead the way.
Next up for the Wildcats is another top ten battle. The No. 7 Texas Longhorns come to Lexington on Sunday, Sep. 27 at 1:00 P.M. ET.
