‘GOAT’: Fans hail Josh Allen after 5-TD ‘Legacy game’ as Buffalo Bills beat Detroit Lions 41-31

Josh Allen delivered a five-touchdown performance as the Buffalo Bills opened their new stadium with a 41-31 victory over the Detroit Lions, prompting fans to hail their quarterback as the “GOAT”.

Allen threw three touchdown passes and ran for two more as Buffalo raced into a 27-7 half-time lead before holding off a second-half Lions comeback.
The performance marked the fourth five-touchdown outing of Allen’s career, coming just one week after he accounted for four touchdowns in Buffalo’s 36-31 win over the Houston Texans. He finished Thursday night with 248 passing yards and 72 rushing yards.

Allen scored the first regular-season touchdown in the new Highmark Stadium with a one-yard rushing score before finding Josh Palmer for a 43-yard touchdown pass.
Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox also found the end zone in the first half, while Allen added another rushing touchdown after the break. James Cook then put the game away with a late one-yard score.
Fans were quick to celebrate Allen’s performance, with one writing: “Allen is the GOAT man, no doubts about that”
Another supporter added: “allen really turned opening night into his highlight reel”
There was also plenty of attention on Detroit after the Lions fell behind 21-0 early in the game.
“are the Lions done? or finished?” one fan asked.
Another summed up Allen’s start to the season by writing: “Legacy game, same great September every year for Allen.”
The “Legacy game” description quickly became a talking point, with another supporter joking: ““Legacy game” in week 2 is incredibly on brand for him”
Allen’s dominance was also highlighted by another fan: “Allen tamed Lions with ease”
One supporter pointed to the significance of the performance inside Buffalo’s new home, writing: “Winning in a brand new stadium is one thing, but doing it with this level of dominance is different.
Josh Allen’s momentum’s gonna make the rest of the AFC look very nervous by January. 🏈”
Allen also reached his 90th regular-season victory, becoming one of only four quarterbacks to reach that mark through their first nine seasons. His two rushing touchdowns moved his career total to 83.
The Bills are now 2-0 and will host the New England Patriots on September 27, while the Lions return home to face the New York Jets.
