Florida State has fired athletic director Michael Alford

There have been questions as to whether Florida State athletic director Michael Alford was the right man for the job for quite some time now. Well, the answer has come to light as of Monday morning as he's been fired according to Pete Nakos of On3. Senior associate AD Bruce Warwick will serve as the interim athletic director.
Alford was hired in 2021, and the program started to see a turnaround the next year when they went 10-3 under head coach Mike Norvell, which was followed by a 13-1 campaign in 2023, and of course, the College Football Playoff snub. Since then, FSU has gone 8-18, and what's the most alarming is their 3-14 record in ACC play over that span.

Florida State Board of Trustees Chairman Peter Collins has this to say about the situation.
"We have made significant investments and structural changes in our athletics program and Seminole Boosters over the past few years, but more are needed."
Many thought that Alford would move on from Norvell after the Seminoles went 2-10 in 2024 and then a 5-7 mark last season. However, he expressed confidence in Norvell and brought him back, much to the dismay of most fans of the program. With Alford out, what does the future hold for Norvell? If they do decide to move on, Alford won't be involved in the process for his replacement.
This change means that Norvell's seat will only got hotter, and it'll be scorching of his team lays an egg against the Alabama Crimson Tide this Saturday on the road. Nonetheless, times are changing in Tallahassee.
