NEW YORK - Inside the Yankees' clubhouse, some players had bats specially designed for Sept. 11, honoring NYFD and first responders.
During batting practice, players donned caps representing New York's Police and Fire departments, and the flags around Yankee Stadium - usually depicting each MLB team's standing - were replaced with U.S. flags at half staff.

"Certainly understand the weight of today,'' said Yankees manager Aaron Boone, prior to Friday night's game against the crosstown Mets, 25 years after the devastating events of Sept. 11, 2001.
Wearing a PAPD cap of New York's Port Authority Police, Boone said he addressed his team about the importance of representing the city on this day.
Team video coordinator Brett Weber put together a three-minute video shown during the hitters' and pitchers' meetings.
"There are always days that lend perspective,'' said Boone, noting the importance of continuing the 2001 MLB season - after initially wondering if it was the right thing to do.
"It was,'' said Boone. "And it was powerful.''
