Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold fracture his hip, but will need additional tests, coach Mike Macdonald told reporters.
Macdonald discussed the injury after the Seahawks beat the New England Patriots 13-10 in the NFL's 2026 regular-season opener Wednesday in Seattle. Darnold was hurt on the game's opening possession.

"It's good news right now," Macdonald said at his postgame news conference.
Darnold completed 1 of 2 attempts for 13 yards before leaving. He was injured while being sacked by Patriots defensive end Dre'Mont Jones less than three minutes into the game. He limped off the field and was taken to a hospital for additional evaluation.
Macdonald said he did not know the extent of the injury and did not provide a potential timeline for Darnold's return. Darnold is to undergo an MRI on Thursday in Seattle.
"At this point, we were able to rule out a fracture," Macdonald said. "There are some more tests to be done. That's what I'm saying when it's positive. We are still working through all of that."
Backup quarterback Drew Lock completed 16 of 22 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 13 yards on two carries. Jalen Milroe is the only other quarterback on the Seahawks' roster.
Seattle will face the Arizona Cardinals in its second game at 4:25 p.. EDT Sept. 20 in Glendale, Ariz.
