Oklahoma State football OL in limbo after Jacob Sexton carted off with leg injury vs Tulsa

TULSA — Six plays into his return to football, Oklahoma State’s Jacob Sexton left the field riding on a cart.
The redshirt senior left tackle injured his right leg on a rushing play with 11:42 remaining in the first quarter. He reached the second level to block and Tulsa safety Ashton Williams missed a tackle and undercut Sexton low, upending him.

Sexton missed 12 games last season at Oklahoma after suffering a season-ending injury in the Sooners' season opener.
After OSU’s 24-10 loss, coach Eric Morris was asked if Sexton broke his leg.
“We haven’t heard for sure, but it’s not good,” Morris said. “It wasn’t good.”
Without Sexton, who Morris said has been the team’s best offensive linemen, the Cowboys struggled to find a steady passing game and allowed two quarterback sacks.
“I didn’t think we had a great answer on the edge,” Morris said. "(Desmond Magiya) got beat a number of times around the edge, got a holding penalty at a crucial time in the game. So I think Sexton, obviously you lose a really good player at left tackle, that’s not what you want but that’s not an excuse. They took it to us in so many different areas.”
Magiya, a junior guard, was the first to replace Sexton at left tackle. Sophomore Shaun Torgeson and senior Ashton Lepo took turns also.
Morris said coaches will grade the replacements to see where the position is at.
"You know, some of them I thought you know got tired and weren't very good as they got tired in the game, and some of them did OK," Morris said. "So we'll have to really go back, and we'll be detailed on grading those guys to figure out, you know, who's going to give this team the best chance to win.”
OSU lineman Braydon Nelson, a UNT transfer who started 14 games last season, did not play in Saturday’s game because of a knee injury. Nelson has returned to independent drills but hasn’t practiced with the rest of his teammates yet. Morris said Nelson is "week-by-week."
"These next couple weeks hopefully we’ll have a ramp up period, try to get his strength up," Morris said. "At the same time we need that kid to be healthy before we stick him out there."
