Woodridge (2-0) plays host to Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy (1-1) at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at Lahoski Field. Woodridge is off to its first 2-0 start since 2016, and CVCA bounced back from a Week 1 loss with a 49-7 win over Canton South in Week 2.
CVCA defeated Woodridge 49-0 last year.

Key players for Woodridge football
QB Blake Pumper has been one of the breakout stars of the early season. Pumper put up a school-record seven TDs and 417 yards passing in Week 2 against Brookside. Johnathan Tyree is the Bulldogs' most dangerous weapon. The running back ran for a touchdown and caught another in Week 2. Woodridge's receiving stable corps is deep, led by Carter Maxa and Andrew Stull.
Key players for CVCA football
CVCA's backbone will be its running game. Tommy Kopec and Zac Anderson each had a huge game in Week 2 against Canton South. Kopec led CVCA with 191 yards rushing and three TDs, and Anderson added 153 yards and three TDs. Reed Jones and Mason Frye also will see touches out of the backfield. Alex Mamone will start at quarterback.

CVCA coach Nick Cook is in his sixth year in charge of the Royals. His record is 45-17 with CVCA.
John Daraio is in his second year in charge of Woodridge. He has a record of 8-4 with the Bulldogs.
