Could the Vikings improve their run game in the 2027 NFL Draft?

The 2027 NFL Draft will take place in Washington, D.C. next year. In that draft, the Vikings still have their first-round pick, but a lot could happen in the next eight months. Before then, though, there will be plenty of speculation and buildup for the team and who they may add to the roster through the draft in a class that many are saying could be one of generational wealth.
USA Today's Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz recently released the latest 2027 NFL mock draft of the cycle, which has the team going with a new offensive addition in the potential top running back, Ole Miss' Kewan Lacy.

Middlehurst-Schwartz explains the Lacy pick, writing, "If Kyler Murray settles the tumult behind center, the Vikings might be inclined to repair the other half of their backfield. Though Minnesota has taken schematic steps to foster a more robust run game, reaching the next level on the ground will require more explosiveness than either Jordan Mason or Aaron Jones Sr., who will turn 32 in December, can offer. Lacy isn't on the level of Jeremiyah Love or Ashton Jeanty entering the season, but he's electric both in tight quarters and the open field."
Lacy would be an electric add to the Vikings backfield if the team were to go that direction. The running back class as a whole is loaded so if it isn't Lacy then they could have a chance at someone else in later rounds.
