Week 1 ESPN FPI standings: Where does Texas A&M rank?

· Yahoo Sports

With Week 0 officially complete, ESPN's updated FPI rankings for Week 1 of the 2026 college football season feature Texas A&M ranked just outside the top 10.

Mike Elko is entering his third season as the Aggies' head coach and is one year removed from leading the program to its first 11-0 start since 1992 and first College Football Playoff bid. Despite losing a school-record 10 players to the 2026 NFL Draft, Texas A&M has rebuilt and retained some of the nation's premier talent as it looks to surpass expectations and make history again this year.

While the Maroon and White are set to kick off the new campaign against Missouri State on Saturday night at Kyle Field, the USC Trojans are the only team in the FPI top-25 to play during Week 0. Lincoln Riley's squad launched its season with a 42-26 win over San Jose State.

The Football Power Index is a computer-based ranking system that measures strength of schedule and predictive value. Compared to the AP Poll or US LBM Coaches Poll, this metric bases its ratings on future performance rather than what a team has accomplished in previous weeks. Put simply, it determines how good a team is and how likely it is to win its remaining contests.
