Hamilton, a Clinton native, was part of a lawsuit in California against the NCAA, On3 reported. Players in the lawsuit were granted a temporary restraining order on Aug. 18 to receive an extra year of eligibility.

The basketball transfer portal is not open, but the temporary restraining order allowed the players to enter the transfer portal until Aug. 24. MSU's fall semester began Aug. 19.

Hamilton averaged 2.6 points while playing in 12 games off the bench in 2022-23, coach Chris Jans' first season. He's been a starter the last three season though and averaged double-digit points in three consecutive seasons.

As a sophomore at High Point, Hamilton averaged 14.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. The next season, he averaged 13.1 points and 4.6 rebounds. Hamilton made the All-Big South first team both seasons.

Last season at UNLV, Hamilton averaged 12.8 points and 4.9 rebounds while shooting a career-high 34.3% from 3.

Hamilton was a three-star recruit, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, helped Clinton win two MHSAA Class 6A championships and he won Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year his senior season.

His father, Tang Hamilton, played at Mississippi State from 1998-2001 and played one season in the NBA for the Miami Heat.
