We’ve reached the end of another week with a lovely weekend ahead for us. For me that means it’s time to go enjoy some youth soccer. I know everyone is excited to see if my son’s team can best their winless season from last year. I know I am! We’ve improved our coaching in the offseason so I’m hopeful. But, none of that is why you’re here. You’re here to see what your fellow Boilermakers think about the Notre Dame series. So, let’s get to it shall we?

An almost even split here. 53% are for dropping the series with 47% in favor of keeping it. I assumed that the results would more heavily favor dropping the game and trying to pick up a cupcake to at least get another win on the books. Alas, that was not the case. We had a lively discussion in the Feed where the poll was initially posted. Here’s just a couple of the comments:

Oldandgold: The current state of Purdue football is/ was temporary. We are already well above the nadir that was the Walters era.

Just get better and bring on the perennially most overrated football school of the last half-century!

I’ll even go one better – Now that we no longer have a domer for an AD, Paint and Shrews ought to initiate a non-con BB rivalry.

IHSAA: Playing ND annually doesn’t add much anymore. I’d still rather replace it with a low-end P4 team than a cupcake, but I don’t have strong feelings one way or another. That game used to put us on TV when not all games were televised, and a win could launch some hype. Neither of those things are relevant today.

Franklin Jacobs: It does seem like everyone else is dumping the difficult non-conference games these days, but this game has history and is a big money-maker for the area. It probably makes sense to keep this one but avoid the mid-level power five games that would make two non-conference losses much more likely. If it gets to a point that losing to Notre Dame would be the only thing keeping Purdue out of the playoffs, then Purdue could always decide to go full chicken like most other schools have.

402Boiler: Does it really matter if we win 3 games instead of 2 in a season?

If you think Purdue will easily win this one among others our friends at FanDuel have a look at some football odds for you. Remember to gamble responsibly.
