The Philadelphia 76ers' acquisition of LeBron James has put the franchise back in the NBA spotlight.
\nThe NBA released portions of the 2026-27 schedule Aug. 11, including opening night and the Christmas Day matchups. The Sixers will be featured in marquee matchups on both dates.

\nThe NBA uses the Christmas holiday for the top matchups in the league, including a rematch of the previous year's NBA Finals. Christmas 2026 is no different, with the NBA champion New York Knicks facing the defending Western Conference champion San Antonio Spurs.
\nThe Sixers will be a part of the holiday festivities as James and his new team will face his old team, the Los Angeles Lakers, in Los Angeles.

\nPhiladelphia will have a difficult task on opening night. The Sixers will face the Knicks at 7 p.m. on Oct. 20 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
\nIt's possible that the Knicks will be raising their championship banner and doing a pregame ring ceremony.

\nPhiladelphia's home opener will also have a LeBron James reunion feel to it.
\nThe Sixers will face the Cleveland Cavaliers at 7 p.m. on Oct. 22 at Xfinity Mobile Arena.

\nTickets to the home opener will be tough to get and expensive on third-party websites. According to StubHub, there were a limited number of tickets available as of Aug. 11, and prices started at $1,015 for a seat in Section 207.
