Two weeks later: Search continues for missing Cape Town siblings

Two weeks on, three Elsies River children remain missing as police press on with the search to bring them home.

Alessia Khumalo, 7, Perez Khumalo, 4, and one-year-old Atarah Khumalo were last seen at their Bestenbier Avenue home on 27 July. It’s alleged they left with their dad to get ice-cream at around 12:00 on the day.
Western Cape police have confirmed that the search remains active.
No breakthrough yet
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said detectives are still working to trace the children.
“The matter you are referring to is still under investigation. The search and investigations continue,” Van Wyk said.
No arrests have been announced.
Police previously confirmed that the siblings were last seen with a man identified as their father. He has not been publicly named as a suspect.
What the siblings were wearing
When they were last seen, Alessia was wearing a blue-and-yellow tracksuit with black shoes. Atarah was dressed in a pink tracksuit and pink shoes, while Perez was wearing a grey tracksuit with black tekkies.
Community appeal continues
The disappearance has left the Elsies River community searching for answers. Missing-persons organisations and residents have continued to circulate appeals for information.
Earlier this week, missing persons organisation The Pink Ladies also appealed to the public for help to find the children after issuing a missing persons alert.
Police urge anyone who may have seen the children or has information about their whereabouts to come forward.
