Central Railway achieves Fastest ever Rs.200 crore milestone in Scrap sales

Central Railway has registered a unique achievement by recording scrap sale revenue of Rs.202.55 crore up to 5th August 2026.

This marks a remarkable 76.94% increase over the corresponding period of the previous financial year recording the highest-ever scrap sales during FY 2026-27.
This also marks Central Railway’s fastest-ever achievement of crossing the Rs.200 crore milestone in Scrap sales.
Major Commodities Disposed
This significant achievement has been accomplished through systematic disposal of various categories of scrap and waste materials, including:
1. Rail Permanant-Way Scrap – 17,755 Metric Tons
2. Sleepers – 1,21,381 Nos.
3. Ferrous Scrap – 11,658 Metric Tons
4. Non-Ferrous Scrap – 1,370 Metric Tons
5. Rolling Stock – 11 Locomotives, 33 Coaches and 33 Wagons
Division/Depot-Wise Performance
All divisions and depots of Central Railway have contributed significantly to this achievement. The division-wise sales are as under:
1. Mumbai Division – Rs.36.78 Cr
2. Bhusaval Division – Rs.33.19 Cr
3. Pune Division – Rs.27.22 Cr
4. Nagpur Division – Rs.26.12 Cr
5. Solapur Division – Rs.10.85 Cr
6. Other Production Units & Workshops – Rs.68.39 Cr
Total Sale: Rs.202.55 Crore
Commitment Towards "Zero Scrap Status"
Under the flagship initiative of achieving "Zero Scrap Status", Central Railway has undertaken intensive drives to identify, segregate and dispose of accumulated scrap across all divisions and depots. The objective is to transform scrap into valuable revenue-generating assets through scientific inventory management and timely disposal.
These achievements reflect Central Railway’s sustained commitment and resolve to accomplish the Zero Scrap Mission and promote financial prudence, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability.
