Commanders injury could lead to opportunity for Oregon's Josh Conerly

· Yahoo Sports

Former Oregon Ducks star Josh Conerly has been a big part of the Washington Commanders' offensive line since being drafted in the first round a couple of years ago. Going forward, he could have an even bigger role.

On Saturday evening, it was announced that starting left tackle Laremy Tunsil suffered a torn triceps injury and is expected to miss an indefinite amount of time after undergoing surgery. Tunsil, who signed a massive contract extension this past offseason, could end up missing most of, if not all, of the upcoming season.

Without him, the Commanders are going to need to figure out what they will do when it comes to protecting Jayden Daniels' blindside.

Luckily, they have Conerly, who has a ton of experience at the left tackle position. Conerly started all of the 2025 season at right tackle, beating out Andrew Wylie for the position. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Saturday that Wylie is expected to step in as the LT in Tunsil's absence, with Conerly staying at RT, but we will see what transpires over the next couple of weeks leading up to the first game of the season.
