Bears hold tryout for former Tennessee defensive back in NFL camp

Chicago held a tryout for nine defensive backs during training camp, according to Friday's NFL transactions. Former Tennessee defensive back William Wright was included in the Bears' workout.

He played for the Vols from 2020-25 and appeared in 45 games. The former Vol totaled 28 tackles, two interceptions, three pass deflections, one touchdown and 26 kick return yards.
In 2025, Wright played in 13 games, including one start. His first career start was in the final game of his career during the Music City Bowl versus Illinois. Wright returned an interception 35 yards against New Mexico State on Nov. 15, 2025.
Chicago also worked out Beanie Bishop, Isaiah Bolden, Brandon Hill, Jaylen Mahoney, Michael Ojemudia, Deantre Prince, Eli Ricks and D.Q. Smith.
The Bears will play their first preseason game on Aug. 15 versus Cleveland. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. EDT at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois.
