A notable number of LIV Golf players are not expected to commit to staying with the league beyond this season, despite an agreement with a new investor being in place.

It seems that there is hope for LIV Golf. After months of turmoil and speculation, Scott O’Neil was able to announce on Wednesday that a lead investor was closing in on signing a deal that would apparently secure LIV’s future for several years.
Of course, that does not address all of the problems that LIV Golf faces.
Several LIV Golf players are ready to turn down equity in the league
The league will almost certainly be nowhere near as lucrative, while it seems entirely possible that world ranking points could be taken away given that the partnership with the Asian Tour appears to be over.
And obviously, LIV fans will probably refuse to relax until the lead investor has completed a deal with the league.
O’Neil provided few details when he spoke to the media on Wednesday, including whether Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm are expected to stay.

And according to Flushing It on X, it seems that many are now planning to walk away.
They posted: “LIV Golf players were given equity offers along with indication of interest documents to sign weeks ago that many hadn’t returned even though they were non binding. After the news of a potential investor this week, sources indicate players were asked again to return them as future funding is dependent on commitment from the star players.
“It’s unclear how many will commit to the future of the league, but insiders expect a significant number not to. There will soon be a much clearer picture of who is and is not committed to LIV Golf 2.0.”

Ultimately, it is no huge surprise that LIV has been able to find the backing required to keep the lights on for the foreseeable future.
But you can understand why some think that LIV’s situation remains incredibly precarious. There seems to be so many plates that O’Neil has to keep spinning for the league to get going again in 2027.
One of those plates concerns the players who make up the teams. They may be able to find players from other tours who are willing to get involved if needed, but there is no doubt that it would be a terrible look for the league if the majority of the current roster moved on.
Many of those players have arguably damaged their credibility with just how strongly they have defended LIV over the years.
If they decide now, after everything, that enough is enough, it is surely an ominous sign for what the future holds.
