Reyna, 23, spent last season at Borussia Monchengladbach. He played the 2020 through 2025 campaigns at Borussia Dortmund, including a loan to Nottingham Forest.

He totaled 19 goals and 18 assists in 147 games over six seasons with Dortmund.

"Gio is an excellent player who unfortunately only showed glimpses of his potential during his year at Borussia and was unable to consistently demonstrate his ability on the pitch due to a number of injuries," Borussia head of sports Rouven Schroder said in a news release.

"We have made it clear that we want and need to reshape the squad and reduce its size. We have therefore come to the joint conclusion that going our separate ways this summer is the right step for both sides."

Reyna scored once over 155 minutes in appearances for the Americans at the 2026 World Cup. He returned to Monchengladbach last week. He was not part of Monchengladbach's training camp roster.

Monchengladbach will start Bundesliga play against RB Leipzig on Aug. 29 in Leipzig, Germany. The Foals finished 12th in last season's Bundesliga standings.

Strasbourg placed eighth in last year's Ligue 1 standings. The Blues and Whites will open their 2026 campaign against Marseille on Aug. 21 in Marseille.
