The Carolina Panthers did a bit of shuffling to their wideout room following Tuesday's outing of training camp.

As announced this evening, the team has parted ways with two receivers—waiving Gabriel Benyard and Ainias Smith. Smith has been waived with an injury designation.
In addition, the roster lost defensive lineman LaBryan Ray, who was placed on the reserve/retired list. The 28-year-old defender spent three seasons with the Panthers.
To fill two of the spots, Carolina has added another pair of wideouts—Roc Taylor and Elijah Cooks.
Taylor, a 2024 first-team All-AAC selection at the University of Memphis, broke into the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the spring of 2025. He also spent time with the UFL's Columbus Aviators and the CFL's Ottawa Redbacks.
Cooks has made three NFL stops since 2023—as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Philadelphia Eagles and, most recently, the New Orleans Saints. He also played for the UFL's Birmingham Stallions in the spring.
