Official: Jordan Henderson Signs for Chelsea

· Yahoo Sports

In the Premier League era at least, there is no Liverpool captain who has won more than Jordan Henderson, and the Sunderland-born midfielder will forever be a club legend for leading the team to the Premier League title in 2019-20 along with winning the Champions League, FA Cup, Club World Cup, and two League Cups.

Things haven’t been quite as positive for Henderson since 2023, though, when he faced the prospect of moving from nailed-on starter to squad option for the Reds and instead chose to move to Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia, then Ajax, and then Brentford. Now, Henderson has officially signed for Chelsea, linking up with another ex-Red in manager Xabi Alonso.

Alonso has been focused on bringing more leadership and more of a veteran presence to the Blues this summer, which is understandable when Enzo Fernandez—most recently seen completely losing his head for Argentina at the World Cup—is their assistant captain behind Reece James, and Henderson will certainly bring leadership.

He is the second signing in that mold this summer for Alonso and Chelsea following the signing of striker Danny Welbeck from Brighton, and there is a widespread belief that while Henderson is likely to have a relatively minor role as a player, he is likely joining with the transition of transitioning into a coaching role with the Blues.

Anyhow. Have some more unveiling shots of Jordan Henderson in Blue, I guess. Because, yeah, it’s a bit weird (though the one where he’s screaming in what looks like terror almost is kind of fitting especially if you cycle through them quickly so it’s kinda like a horror movie jump-scare?).
