La Liga giants Barcelona have this weekend seen their preparations for the new campaign dealt something of a setback. This comes amid confirmation that the club’s next planned friendly outing has been suspended.
Hansi Flick’s troops are fresh off taking to the pitch in front of a crowd for the first time this summer this past Friday. After making the trip to England for a pre-season training camp, the Blaugrana ultimately slipped to a penalty shootout defeat at the hands of Birmingham City.
Next on the agenda was another friendly outing on Monday, against Birmingham’s Championship rivals, Preston North End.
As alluded to above, though, on the eve of the clash, Flick and co. have been informed that it will not go ahead as planned. As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:
‘The match has been cancelled because the Blaugrana’s opponents have several players unavailable and were set to field a large squad of Under-21 players.’
Barcelona will therefore hold a previously unplanned training session on Monday.
