Rickie Fowler reacts to losing the lead at the Rocket Classic after a poor back nine on Friday

Rickie Fowler has played some really impressive golf so far this week at the Rocket Classic.

However, Fowler would have been disappointed to play his final eight holes in two-over par, after he took the solo lead on the 10th hole of his second round.
In spite of that back nine, the 37-year-old is just one stroke adrift of the leaders heading into the weekend.
Rickie Fowler‘s last PGA Tour win came at the Rocket Classic three years ago, and he has been working incredibly hard to get back inside the winners’ circle.
The six-time PGA Tour winner will feel like he has a great chance of ending his barren run this week in Detroit.

So the 37-year-old will clearly be desperate to win the final staging of one of his favorite tournaments.

Fowler addressed the media after his second round in Detroit on Friday.
The 37-year-old was asked to share what went wrong on his back nine, after he held the solo lead after 10 holes of his second round.
“Well, bogeys are going to happen,“ Fowler replied.

“Nice to finish with birdie on 18. A lot of good stuff today and nice to be in a good spot for the weekend.“
In fairness to Fowler, the birdie he made on 18 proved that he has real courage and fight after experiencing such a challenging run of holes.
Rickie Fowler needs to execute properly at the Rocket Classic
Fowler insisted that he doesn’t have much to work on ahead of his third round at the Detroit Golf Club.
“If I needed to work on some stuff, I probably wouldn’t be in the position I’m in right now,“ he insisted.
“A lot of it’s just execution. I mean, I can make plenty of putts and I’ve driven it well enough, hit plenty of good iron shots.
“Just executing properly and maybe a few less mistakes, we’ll be in a good spot.“
Rickie Fowler would be a hugely popular winner this week at the Rocket Classic, but there is still a long way to go before his fans will start to believe that is a genuine possibility.
