See FSU's ranking in Jon Rothstein's ACC preseason power rankings

Luke Loucks and Florida State basketball are looking to make 2026 one of the best second years in program history, and the foundation appears strong: a top 20 recruiting class nationally, and a coach who has injected youthful energy into a program that desperately needed it.

Despite all of this, though, there's no shortage of doubters. In the hyper-competitive ACC, inevitably, a non-blue blood wouldn't be ranked highly.

Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports recently released his preseason power rankings for the conference, and the Seminoles debuted at No. 11 out of 18. FSU is ahead of NC State, who are two years removed from a Final Four appearance, Stanford, Notre Dame, Wake Forest, Boston College, California, and Georgia Tech.

At No. 1 was this year's top seed, Duke, followed by Virginia, Louisville, Miami, and North Carolina. All of whom were tournament teams in 2026.

Loucks and the Seminoles will look to do better than seventh this year, and they'll have the opportunity to do so when their first game tips off against Florida A&M in the Orion180 Tip-Off Classic in Tampa on Nov. 2.
