Texas A&M transfer TE enters 2026 Top 10 in career receiving yards

Texas A&M's 2026 tight end rotation will be led by senior Micah Riley, as the former Auburn transfer is one of five team captains, is ready to take the next step as a receiver, and is already an established blocker, hoping to replace Nate Boerkircher's reliability during his lone season in College Station before being selected in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

While new offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins is expected to utilize 11 personnel formations based on his background as both Alabama and Texas A&M's wide receiver coach, Micah Riley, combined with transfer tight ends Houston Thomas and Richie Anderson, and redshirt freshman Kiotti Armstrong will be tasked with making tough catches in the seam and being lead blockers in the run game.

This offseason, Wiggins stated that, while A&M's deep wide receiver room, led by Mario Craver and now featuring Alabama transfer Isaiah Horton, will play a large role in the scheme, don't expect the air raid offense to make its way to College Station, as the first-year OC wants to establish the run early in games.

While Micah Riley is expected to win the starting tight end job, Houston Thomas, who reeled in 34 receptions for 347 yards and 2 touchdowns last season, enters his final collegiate season with the 5th most receiving yards from a tight end in career (916), and looked the part as a receiver during the Maroon & White Game this spring.

Standing 6'5" and nearly 250 pounds, Thomas finished his final season at UTSA with a 68.3 receiving grade, 67.5 pass blocking grade, but struggled as a run blocker (46.5). When starting quarterback Marcel Reed is in shotgun, looking to air it out, I fully expect the College Station native to be in the lineup, providing Reed another target in the middle of the field.
