Kansas State Hoping Jaden Schutt's Experience Leads To More Wins

Jaden Schutt has spent his college basketball career playing in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
With most of the teams located out East, Schutt said he is thrilled about being closer to home as a member of the Kansas State Wildcats basketball team. He is now in Manhattan after stops with the Virginia Tech Hokies and Duke Blue Devils.

He met with local reporters last week to discuss the upcoming season.
"It's been great here so far," said Schutt, who is from Yorkville, Ill. "Really loved it, and just in the process of choosing a new school, just once Casey kind of reached out, obviously just understanding his background, his success that he's had with players, and just the way he plays just was really intriguing, and just wanted to be a part of it. Obviously, knowing it's going to be a new group, yeah, and just know things, just the area. Come back to the Midwest, got a lot of family in Nebraska, so just you know, it kind of just feels like home right here. So that's been great so far."
The hope is Schutt brings valuable experience to a revamped roster that also includes first-year coach Casey Alexander. Shcutt has made 31 starts in 78 career games. Last year he averaged 7.7 points on 38.4 percent shooting and 1.6 rebounds.
KOSTIC STARTING TO FEEL AT HOME
Like any freshman, Wildcats guard Andrej Kostic had some adjustments to make.
In his case, they were just a little bit different and more difficult. A native of Serbia, Kostic is growing more comfortable during his transition. He spoke about it last week while answering questions from reporters.
"Yeah, like as I talked before, like people here are just different, and I can see that when I go to the other states and cities, and I just love to be here. Like I know the whole city."
PURPLE REIGN ELIMINATED FROM TBT
The Purple Reign's run in the TBT ended Friday night at Bramlage Coliseum.
They were defeated by 62-55 by JHX Hoops, eliminating them from the tournament. After winning the first game, Purple Reign lost the remaining two in the best-of-3 series.
The Purple Reign team featured mostly former Kansas State Wildcats players while JHX Hoops was full of ex-Kansas Jayhawks. Former KU player Zeke Mayo led the way by scoring 18 of his 25 points in the second half.
Michael Beasley had a team-high 17 points for the Purple Reign. JHX Hoops now advances to the single-elimination quarterfinals. The winning team in the tournament receives $2 million.
