Another Yellowstone bison goes viral after popping SUV's tire

Another one of the massive plains grazers is going viral at the U.S. national park that straddles Wyoming, Montana and Idaho, this time after puncturing the tire of a Volkswagen SUV that apparently got a bit too close for comfort.
The incident was caught on video and posted on Wednesday to TikTok by a user under the handle tonya_names. It shows an SUV trying to creep past the beefy herbivore, which seems to be caught by surprise and takes a swipe at one of the tires with its horn.
The video, shot from behind the VW and seemingly edited for brevity, shows the vehicle pulling off the road immediately afterward with a noticeable flat on the front passenger side.
“Bison pops tire of the car in front of us,” the post from tonya_names says. “I was starting to roll the window up before we got any closer. You can hear the air release as the tire popped.”
Latest viral incident involving bison
While it wasn’t clear when the incident happened and why it happened, the post came less than two weeks after an elderly tourist visiting Yellowstone was flipped by a bull and tossed eight feet into the air while walking with his 13-year-old grandson.
Carl Isom-McDaniel, 65, suffered multiple broken bones — including fractures to his hip — that required surgery after the attack, which came after they took some pictures of the bison.
“We were about 100 yards away,” McDaniel told CNN. “He was not aggressive; he was not having problems and we took some pictures and decided to walk on.”

Visitors advised to use caution
Yellowstone has since said the bison will remain in the park and “no management action” will be taken against the animal , park officials told TMZ earlier this month.
In a social media post around that time, park officials warned visitors to “use extra caution this time of year — the bison rut is beginning.

“Bison are wild and unpredictable, no matter how docile they may appear to be,” the post said. “Be sure to always maintain a distance of at least 25 yards (23 metres) from them and if a bison charges, retreat.”
