“I need some time” Tzolis could not believe Arsenal wanted to sign him

Christos Tzolis has completed his move from Club Brugge to Arsenal, and the attacker admitted that he could hardly believe it when he first learned that the club was interested in signing him.

The forward enjoyed an outstanding season at Club Brugge, establishing himself as one of the leading performers in the Belgian Pro League. His impressive displays attracted interest from several top clubs during the summer, but once he became aware of Arsenal’s interest, he made a move to London his priority.

Arsenal secure their target

Arsenal were convinced that Tzolis was the right player to strengthen their attacking options. After completing the sale of Leandro Trossard during this transfer window, they shifted their full attention towards securing the signing of the attacker.

The transfer has now been completed, and Tzolis will be part of Arsenal’s attacking group for the new campaign. Speaking after the move, Arsenal Media quoted him as saying:

“I need some time to realise, I think!

“It’s absolutely amazing to sign for such a big club, the champions of England. I’m very proud to be part of this team for the next season.

“When my agent was saying maybe it was a possibility, I was already excited. Afterwards it was getting more serious and now I’m here.”

“I had a nice conversation [with Mikel Arteta]. It was around an hour. We talked about everything, about the club, about myself, about his plans, about me of course, about the team. It was only positive things.”

A fresh challenge awaits

Tzolis now begins the next stage of his career at a much bigger club and in a more demanding league, where expectations will be considerably higher than those he experienced previously.

He will also face competition from Gabriel Martinelli for a place in the team, making it interesting to see how he adapts to the challenge. His performances during the season will determine whether he can establish himself as a regular member of Arsenal’s squad and justify the club’s decision to bring him to north London.
