AfterShocks, JHX Hoops advance to TBT quarterfinals

WICHITA, KAN. (KSNW) — The AfterShocks and JHX Hoops prevailed in win-or-go-home game threes Friday night to move on to the TBT quarterfinals.

The Shox knocked off the Enchantment 73-67 at Koch Arena. The New Mexico alums jumped out to a 12-point lead in the first quarter. The WSU squad trailed the whole way until the third quarter and led by four heading to the fourth. The AfterShocks never relinquished the lead in the final frame.

Marcus Keene led with 23 points. QJ Peterson nailed the game-winner in the Elam Ending and contributed 16 off the bench. Marcus Santos-Silva added 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The Jayhawks overcame a sluggish start to beat Purple Reign 62-55 at Bramlage Coliseum. K-State scored the first dozen points of the game. K-U tightened the deficit to two at halftime. JHX took its first lead in the third, but the Cats pushed the lead back to double figures in the fourth before KU outscored them 13-2 in the Elam Ending.

Zeke Mayo poured in a game-high 25 points, 14 of which came in the second half. Jacob Hanna was also in double figures with 10. Michael Beasley paced Purple Reign with 17 (13 of them coming in the first half). Austin Trice and Brandon Childress chipped in 12 and 11, respectively.

The AfterShocks and JHX Hoops meet at Koch Arena Monday at 8 p.m.
