It's been nearly two months since the stunning trade request of Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin was made public.

Perhaps even more stunning was the leadership transition that took place earlier this month that saw beloved former captain and general manager Steve Yzerman vacate his role.

Various reports surfaced that Larkin was only willing to waive his no-trade clause to accommodate a move to three teams - the Florida Panthers, Vegas Golden Knights, and Minnesota Wild.

However, Yzerman was unable to find what he felt was an acceptable return for Larkin from those teams, and the latter remains with the club as a roster player.

Just over a week after Yzerman's departure from the role he'd held since April 2019, Larkin posted a video of himself working out on the ice in Red Wings gear to his social media account.

Last season, Larkin scored a career-high 34 goals. Following the campaign that resulted in the Red Wings missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the 10th straight season, Larkin reiterated his desire to be part of the solution for the club to get them back into contention.

Right now, it remains to be seen whether or not Larkin will officially rescind his trade request upon the arrival of Detroit's eventual next general manager.
